Erin Thielman, a parishioner and school parent at the Basilica School of Saint Mary, shares her experiences of raising a son with Down syndrome. This Sunday, March 21st, is World Down Syndrome Day.

Erin is a Catholic writer and speaker. She also is a pro-life advocate, particularly on behalf of people with Down syndrome. 

Founded in 1795, the Basilica of Saint Mary in Old Town Alexandria is the first Catholic parish established in Virginia. Pope Francis named the church a minor basilica on December 6, 2017 due to its important role in the growth of the Catholic Church in North America.
