“Is It Rational to Believe in God? Skepticism, Materialism, and the Cause of Everything” with Dr. Chad Pecknold

Our age is increasingly said to mirror ancient paganism. Yet, it’s precisely the ancient pagan world which Christianity converted. In this lecture at the Basilica of Saint Mary, Dr. Chad Pecknold speaks on Saint Augustine’s engagement with ancient pagan philosophies for wisdom as we convert the world we live in now to Christ.

Dr. Pecknold has been a Professor of Historical and Systematic Theology in the School of Theology at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. since 2008. He teaches in the areas of fundamental theology, Christian anthropology, and political theology.

Recorded on November 19, 2019

Founded in 1795, the Basilica of Saint Mary in Old Town Alexandria is the first Catholic parish established in Virginia. Pope Francis named the church a minor basilica on December 6, 2017 due to its important role in the growth of the Catholic Church in North America.
