Beth Lofgren spoke at our Theology on Tap on December 2, 2019.
The topic of her talk was "Identity and Embodied Selves:
Catholicism and Transgender Questions."
Beth Lofgren is a doctoral candidate at the Catholic University of
America, studying sexual ethics and gender with a focus on John
Paul II's Theology of the Body. She holds her Masters of Philosophy
in Moral Theology from Catholic University and her Masters of Arts
in Theology and Christian Ministry from Franciscan University of
Steubenville. She is a native of the Catholic Diocese of Arlington,
where she lives with her husband and two children.
Theology on Tap is a speaker series for young adults (ages 21-39) that occurs on the first Monday of every month at Murphy's Grand Irish Pub on King Street in Alexandria.
Founded in 1795, the Basilica of Saint Mary in Old Town Alexandria is the first Catholic parish established in Virginia. Pope Francis named the church a minor basilica on December 6, 2017 due to its important role in the growth of the Catholic Church in North America.
