Licensed professional counselor Margaret Luckey spoke at our monthly Theology on Tap on February 4, 2019. Her topic was: "Catholic Assertiveness Training: Holding Your Own Without Compromising Charity"
Luckey holds a graduate degree in counseling from Franciscan
University of Steubenville and received training in play therapy
from Virginia Tech. She holds an undergraduate degree from
Christendom College. Since 2013, Margaret has worked as a therapist
at her private practice in Alexandria. In addition to her practice,
she is executive director of Siena Adoption Services and works as a
school counselor at Saint Rita Catholic School and Rennessance
Montessori School.
Previously, Margaret worked as a therapist in a residential
facility, working with individuals with a serious mental illness
and children and adolescents at risk for removal from their
homes.
Founded in 1795, the Basilica of Saint Mary in Old Town Alexandria is the first Catholic parish established in Virginia. Pope Francis named the church a minor basilica on December 6, 2017 due to its important role in the growth of the Catholic Church in North America.
